As of Monday, the order excusing Catholics from in-person worship expires. The move coincides with the archdiocese lifting restrictions that limited churches to 25% of capacity. Listecki’s letter to the 10-county archdiocese said the fear of getting sick, in and of itself, is not an excuse, and Catholics “who deliberately fail to attend Sunday Mass commit a grave sin…”

Pope issues appeal regarding protests, demonstrations (Vatican News) Pope Francis turned his thoughts to those protesting in numerous demonstrations throughout the world. He made these remarks after concluding the recitation of the Angelus with the faithful gathered on Sunday in St Peter’s Square. Catholic teens in U.S. mirror peers in religious trends (CNA) Catholic teenagers mirror American teenagers overall on many religious trends, a report by the Pew Research Center says. A Pew report published Sept. 10 examined the religious identities and beliefs and American teenagers and their parents. “U.S. Teens Take After Their Parents Religiously, Attend Services Together and Enjoy Family Rituals,” Pew reported, but added that the teens usually do so “at parents’ behest” and many of them privately hold different beliefs. The statistics show that Catholic teenagers are more likely to mirror teenagers overall in their religious beliefs than are Evangelical Christian teenagers…

Canadian bishops disavow prophecies of priest (UCANews.com) Two Canadian dioceses have disavowed the messages and prophecies of a Canadian priest known for prophesying doom. Bishop Gilles Lemay of Amos, Quebec, disavowed the messages and prophecies of Father Michel Rodrigue Sept. 3. Six days later, Bishop Robert Bourgon of Hearst-Moosonee, the Ontario diocese where Father Rodrigue was ordained, also disavowed his visions. Evacuated youth in California find shelter at local church (The News Mirror) Late Saturday night, a Deacon at Saint Frances X Cabrini Church in Yucaipa got the call. Trinity Youth Services (TYS) on Fremont Street was in the evacuation warning zone. The El Dorado fire was approaching and mandatory evacuation was a real possibility. If it became a reality, could the church provide shelter for the young residents and staff? After making phone calls to the Yucaipa Sheriff Department, the fire department, and the Red Cross, things slowly began to fall into place…
