Some happy news in the new year out of Michigan: Deacon Jerry Roersma, director of diaconate formation, wrote to tell me of an ordination in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
He wrote:
On Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, Bishop David Walkowiak ordained seven new deacons for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. The men ordained are: Brian Piecuch, Daniel Esch, Donato Perez, Gregory Sokolowski, Michael Hollern, Thu Le, and Tom Roberts. These men are part of the first class of men to be ordained to the permanent diaconate since the deacon formation program was reinstated by Bishop Walkowiak in 2015.
