From Detroit Catholic:

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Kurt Krueger, Jeffrey Ostrowski, Ronald Potempski and James Pryce were seated with their families in the pews of the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, awaiting the moment when they’d join their brothers behind the altar as newly ordained deacons.

In a Mass celebrated by Detroit Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger, the four men were ordained to the permanent diaconate and given their new parish assignments: Deacon Krueger will serve at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Plymouth; Deacon Ostrowski will serve at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Livonia; Deacon Potempski has been assigned to ministry at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Grosse Pointe Woods; and Deacon Pryce will join Resurrection Parish in Canton.

Much of the Mass and its message focused on the image of deacons as ministers of humble service, a theme that prevailed across the homily, the thanksgiving address, and families’ reflections on their new phase of ministry.

Each of Detroit’s newest deacons embarks on their new appointments alongside wives and children who have supported them in their formation.
