Brother Silas Henderson, from the Jordan Ministry Team, has generously asked me to do a little something on that little something I do: preaching.  (Deacon Bill Ditewig, you may remember, offered a memorable session a few months back on diaconal ministry during the pandemic.)

So now it’s my turn.

This will be happening Tuesday September 22 at 8 pm ET, and it’s titled: “Everything I Need to Know About Preaching I Learned From Walter Cronkite.”

From the description:

Part of the secret to a great homily has nothing to do with heady theology or profound Biblical exegesis. It’s simply knowing how to communicate!  Deacon Greg Kandra spent nearly 30 years in broadcast news, writing and producing award-winning scripts for people like Ed Bradley, Dan Rather and Katie Couric. In this presentation, Deacon Greg will share some of his experiences and offer tips and pointers on how deacons can offer homilies their listeners will absorb, remember, and take home in their hearts.

And there’s more:

The cost for the workshop is $10.00. To session will be held via ZOOM (the required link and any additional materials will be emailed to registered participants before the session); please register on or before September 21.

Note: If your school, parish, or diocese will be paying for this session, please enter the discount code GUEST when registering.

To register, please contact Jordan Ministry Team at (520) 623-2563 or email jmt@jordanministry.org. To register online, please click “To Register” and go to your “cart” (near the upper left corner of your screen) to complete the registration process.

Sound like fun? I’m hoping it will be an entertaining and informative hour (and that the technology of Zoom won’t get the best of me…)

With any luck, this will be (as “Hamilton” might put it) “the Zoom where it happens.”

Ha. I slay me.

Join me for the conversation and come ready to share your own ideas and experiences, too.  You can sign up at this link.

Hope to see you then!
