A grateful diaconal bow to my friend and brother deacon, Jim Hoegemeier, from Madison, Wisconsin, who unearthed this gem and sent it my way.

It’s the newly-appointed archbishop of Dublin, Dermott Farrell, speaking in 2009 about the growing role of deacons in the Irish church.  At the time, Msgr. Farrell was the National Director of the Permanent Diaconate in Ireland.
