The news, from Deacon Dennis Dolan:

Deacon Mark Asselin of Rockville, MD; Deacon Patrick Ouellette of Alexandria, VA; and Deacon Patrick Murphy-Racey of Knoxville, TN all made profession as Paulist Affiliate Deacons on June 7th 2022.

The promises were made at the Basilica of The Immaculate Conception in Washington DC during the Installation Mass of Father Rene Constanza, CSP as the 20th Superior General/ President of the Paulists.

The Deacon Affiliate program is open to missionary-minded diocesan deacons.

The Paulist Fathers are the first religious community of men founded in the United States to evangelize the country.

Congratulations!

Here’s more info:

Are you a Catholic Deacon who has a strong affinity for the charism and mission of the Paulist Fathers?

Deacons who would like to devote a part of their ministerial service to the Paulist mission of outreach to “those beyond the Church” are invited to explore a new aspect of Paulist life: Paulist Deacon Affiliates.

Deacon Affiliates are permanent deacons who, after sessions of formation, commit to exercising Paulist ministry in their own parishes or dioceses, or for an institution that concentrates on mission to “those beyond the Church,” on a year-to-year basis. They make an annual promise to express this commitment.

Their wives are invited to be part of the formation. Their bishops endorse this ministry in cooperation with the Paulists.
