I’m visiting the midwest this week — preaching at Masses in Minnesota, and meeting with donors in Chicago and Wisconsin. This past weekend, I visited St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Remer, Minnesota, in the Diocese of Duluth.
It’s a humble church — more of a chapel, really — but with wonderful people led by an enthusiastic pastor, Father Keith Bertram, who oversees two parishes all by himself (but with generous help from committed and faithful laity.)
Before Mass, as we were getting ready, I saw the prayer below taped to the wall of the sacristy.
I thought it worth sharing — and I think it’s something every deacon can take to heart, too.
Meanwhile, thanks to Fr. Keith for his wonderful hospitality and for sharing the gift of his vocation with the good people of Minnesota. My CNEWA colleague Chris Kennedy and I had a wonderful visit.
