My friend Tony Rossi of The Christophers posted this little flashback today, in remembrance of actor William Christopher, who entered eternal life seven years ago. Today is his birthday. Christopher, of course, played Father Mulcahy on MASH — undoubtedly the second most famous priest to ever appear on American television (after Archbishop Fulton Sheen).

The post includes this lovely moment below. I think we need it now. Badly.

As Tony writes:

I the  episode “Dear Sis,” after Father Mulcahy feels like his ministry isn’t making a difference for anyone, the camp’s doctors and nurses serenade him with “Dona Nobis Pacem,” probably one of the most Catholic scenes ever to make it on television. Christopher’s reaction to this unexpected Christmas gift conveys the heart of a man who craves peace.

And so we pray, at this troubled moment in our tortured world: Lord, give us peace. Dona Nobis Pacem.
