I’m pleased to announce that a new collection of homilies is being released today by the good people at Clear Faith Publishing — another addition to the award-winning collection known as “Homilists for the Homeless.”

It’s called A Prisoner and You Visited Me: Homilies and Reflections for Cycle A. Once again, I’m thrilled to be a part of this endeavor, and grateful to my friend Deacon James Knipper for pulling it together.

From the publisher:

Once again, Clear Faith Publishing brings together some of the finest homilists to build a new compilation of homilies and reflections for Cycle A of the Liturgical Year. A Prisoner and You Visited Me breaks open the Sunday and Feast Days readings in order to provide insight, warmth, humor and spiritual food for the reader. Under the moniker ‘Homilists for the Homeless’ the gift of these preachers makes it possible for proceeds from the sale of every book to go toward charities that serve and support those who are living on the margins.

The book will benefit the following charities:

Homeboy Industries is the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. For over 30 years, they have stood as a beacon of hope in Los Angeles to provide training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of the community. www.homeboyindustries.com

Hour Children is a leading provider of services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women in New York State. Focused on women and their children, they support families during a mother’s incarceration and help families get back on their feet upon release. They do this by providing housing, childcare, job training, and mental health services. www.hourchildren.org

Prison Fellowship is the nation’s largest Christian nonprofit serving prisoners, formerly incarcerated people, and their families, and a leading voice for restorative criminal justice reform.www.prisonfellowship.org.”

Contributors include Greg Boyle, S.J., Robert Ellsberg, James Martin, S.J., Megan McKenna, Richard Rohr, Timothy Shriver … and me.
