From Vatican News:
On 24 November 2026, the Vatican Publishing House will publish The Private Diary of Pope Francis, a book by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, presenting and commenting on notes Jorge Mario Bergoglio kept between 1992 and 2024.
The book offers a deeper understanding of the personality and inner life of the Jesuit Pope, who led the Catholic Church from 13 March 2013 until his death on 21 April 2025.
The Private Diary of Pope Francis will be released simultaneously worldwide in five languages and distributed in 94 countries on 24 November. The Italian edition will be published by the Vatican Publishing House; the Spanish, English and Portuguese editions by the respective branches of Penguin Random House; and the French edition by Éditions Albin Michel.
“We are very honoured to publish this text by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, which presents Pope Francis’ Diary to the public,” says Andrea Tornielli, Editorial Director of the Dicastery for Communication. “Through this book, which we believe readers around the world will appreciate, we will be able to gain an even deeper understanding of the Argentine Pope’s inner life.”
The Private Diary of Pope Francis presents and comments on notes Bergoglio kept from 20 December 1992 to 18 August 2024.
The AP account doesn’t say the book is “by Víctor Manuel Fernández.” It describes the book this way:
The English-language edition of his private reflections was translated from the Spanish original by Sister Bernadette Reis and edited and annotated by Víctor Manuel Fernández, an Argentine cardinal who heads the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
